Public Affairs & Society Benefit

News and Stories

The F. M. Kirby Foundation’s Public Affairs and Society Benefit program area supports organizations and projects that promote a more just and civil society, one where a diversity of ideas and viewpoints are encouraged and celebrated. It is our belief that to have successful and healthy communities we must move away from the polarization that has plagued our country’s politics and media, and instead find the common ground that binds our communities together. Our philanthropy seeks to ensure that all people can be more self-reliant, make well-informed decisions, and exercise their fundamental rights without fear of government overreach or social cancellation. Funding in this area has supported research and evaluation of existing public policies as well as projects that explore new solutions to some of our nation’s greatest challenges. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, protecting individual liberties; advancing free markets; creating legal pathways to immigration; protecting sexual and reproductive health and rights; and ensuring access to local news media.
