The F. M. Kirby Foundation is pleased to announce that Wanda Miroslava Peguero has been promoted to Director of Grants Management, effective March 14.

With expertise in grants management, payment oversight, and nonprofit operations, over the last 19 months, Wanda has worked closely with Foundation staff to enhance grantmaking strategies and strengthen internal processes. Her background in compliance, fiscal management, and grants management software has been instrumental in ensuring effective stewardship of grantees. She brings this continued dedication and expertise to her new role at the Foundation.

“Wanda plays a critical role in helping us innovate as a team, while not losing sight of the values and traditions that have anchored the foundation for decades,” said Foundation President Justin Kiczek. “I look forward to her continuing to help us foster strong, healthy communities through our grantmaking.”

Before joining the Foundation in August 2023, Wanda Peguero built an extensive career in nonprofit administration, advancement, finance, and grant management. She previously served as Grants Manager at the Ms. Foundation for Women, where she led the design, development, and implementation of grants processes, and at the Ford Foundation, where she managed a large portfolio in the Gender, Sexuality, and Reproductive Justice Unit. More recently, she held grants management positions in New York City at The Clark, Scriven, and Fernleigh Foundations and The JPB Foundation (now Freedom Together Foundation).

“My goal is to ensure our operations not only support our partners efficiently, but also reflect the standards we hold — transparency, respect, and a deep appreciation for the time and effort of our grantees,” Peguero said. “I’m proud to work alongside such a dedicated team, and I look forward to building on the practices and systems that enable us to do our best work.”

Wanda’s leadership will continue to drive meaningful progress in the Foundation’s grantmaking efforts. With her proven expertise and dedication to building lasting relationships with grantees, she is well-positioned to enhance the Foundation’s impact in the nonprofit sector. The Foundation looks forward to her continued contributions and the ongoing success of its mission to create strong, healthy communities.

“In this next chapter, I’m excited to build on our progress and continue advancing innovative, thoughtful approaches that make our grantmaking more responsive, equitable, and effective,” Peguero said. “Centering the grantee experience remains a top priority for me.”
