The F. M. Kirby Foundation is proud to celebrate more than 30 years of partnership with Adirondack Experience, one of the nation’s finest regional museums dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and culture of New York’s Adirondack Park. Nestled on 121 acres overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, the open-air campus features more than 20 historic and contemporary buildings showcasing the region’s rich heritage through engaging exhibitions, interactive experiences, and educational programs.
Adirondack Experience’s expansive collection includes iconic Adirondack guide boats, Native American arts, rustic furniture, and works by artists inspired by the landscape. The museum’s signature exhibition, Life in the Adirondacks, spans 19,000 square feet and immerses visitors in the stories of the people, places, and traditions that have shaped this unique region. From hands-on activities where families can row authentic guide boats and climb a classic fire tower to thoughtful exhibits exploring environmental stewardship and regional culture, the museum offers something for visitors of all ages and interests.
Beyond its physical campus, Adirondack Experience extends its reach through innovative programming, including the Adirondack Library Series, which brings together authors and storytellers in virtual conversations about Adirondack history and culture, and podcasts that dive deep into the region’s fascinating past. The museum’s commitment to accessibility ensures that all visitors can engage with and enjoy the Adirondack story.
The F. M. Kirby Foundation is honored to support Adirondack Experience’s mission to preserve this important American landscape and inspire appreciation for the natural world, cultural heritage, and the enduring connection between people and place.
