The F. M. Kirby Foundation is proud to support Summit Speech School, a half-a-century-old institution based in New Providence empowering children with hearing loss to become more confident, effective communicators through listening and spoken language. Founded in the 1960s as one of the country’s first auditory/oral speech schools, Summit Speech combines cutting-edge methodologies, technology, and expert teaching to help every child reach their full potential in school, community, and life.
Summit Speech School offers a comprehensive slate of programs, beginning with Early Intervention for infants, moving through a language-rich Preschool classroom, and extending into the Itinerant Mainstream Support Program that aids students in inclusive school settings. Across all ages, the school integrates specialized instruction, therapy, and audiological services to tailor learning environments that meet each child’s unique needs and foster lifelong learning and inclusion.
Guided by a vision to lead and nurture New Jersey’s children, families, and professionals with research-based practices and state-of-the-art communication strategies, Summit Speech School remains a beacon of excellence in oral-deaf education. The F. M. Kirby Foundation is honored to support the school’s enduring mission — to open doors for children with hearing loss and to ensure they are fully heard, seen, and supported in every facet of life.
