The F. M. Kirby Foundation is proud to support the Morristown Festival of Books, a beloved community institution that has brought the power of the written word to the heart of historic downtown Morristown since its inception in 2014. Launched to celebrate literature and foster a love of reading across all ages and backgrounds, the Festival has grown into one of the premier literary events in the tri-state area, drawing thousands of attendees each year to enjoy conversations and readings with world-class authors.
Each fall, the Festival unfolds across many of Morristown’s historic landmarks, including St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Mayo Performing Arts Center, the Morristown & Morris Township Library, and the grounds of the historic Vail Mansion, creating a walkable, immersive literary experience in the town center. The annual two-day event opens with a ticketed keynote event featuring a nationally renowned author, followed by a free, all-day main festival on Saturday that is open to the public and requires no reservations. Over the years, the Festival has welcomed a remarkable roster of more than 800 authors, including Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award recipients, Newbery and Caldecott medalists, and New York Times bestsellers across fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and more.
Central to the Festival’s identity is KidFest, a beloved component of the main festival that brings children, teens, and families together with celebrated authors and illustrators for signings, discussions, crafts, and activities that spark a lifelong love of reading. The Festival is supported by a passionate community of more than 150 annual volunteers, generous sponsors, local independent booksellers, and thousands of dedicated readers who make this event possible year after year.
This year’s event will take place October 9 and 10. The F. M. Kirby Foundation is honored to partner with the Morristown Festival of Books’ mission to celebrate the power of the written word to bring the community together in shared conversation and connection.
